Scoble has put forward some ideas as to Why Sharepoint really isn't used for weblogging , emphasising the issues about the difficulty of discovery and of syndication of SharePoint sites.
Which raises in my mind a question I hadn't thought of before. Can a publicly-facing SharePoint site be spidered?
I still think OneNote could be a useful input tool for SharePoint sites, see Why Doesn't Microsoft have a Blogging Tool? .
Of course I guess a significant issue which impacts the lack of SharePoint blogging is that a SharePoint blog would need to be run on Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6, with significantly higher software costs than for blogging tools that will run on Apache on Linux. End of story for publicly-facing personal blogs, I suspect.
