An interesting take on the Microsoft source code leak

There has been quite a bit of attention on the Microsoft Windows (partial) source code leak. I was interested in the viewpoint put forward by Paul Nowak, Microsoft's Source Code Leak - A Different Perspective .

The first sentence is enough to set the mental juices flowing: "Microsofts reported source code leak of portions of the Windows NT and Windows 2000 operating systems today has the potential to be the best thing that ever happened to Microsoft technically.".

It's certainly not how many commentators have seen the issue. I guess I have a soft spot for radical thinking, since I expect that over the next few years Microsoft will have to display considerable mental agility and not a small amount of its own radical thinking.
