What do I want in an RSS tool?

Over recent times I have been pondering the question of how to handle the deluge of information that RSS can bring and, in particular what I would like to see in an ideal RSS tool.

Either by coincidence, or because this is a growing issue for many people, I have bumped into at least three people asking very similar questions.

One blogger, what i want in an RSS tool is a little further on, having defined the desired tool characteristics.

Even Scoble's stamina is wilting, Danah tells us what she wants from RSS . He admits, "I'll be honest. 1300 blogs is breaking me.".

And Dare Obesanjo, Different Ways of Dealing with the RSS Information Overload is also considering similar issues.

I know that I need to give the question more thought before I know what I really want my ideal RSS tool to do but it's an issue that some bright minds are already considering.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see a new generation of RSS tools which allow recipients of RSS and similar feeds to achieve greater control over their information flood.
