SVG features in Oracle and Corel approach

Oracle and Corel have revealed, Oracle and Corel to Provide Open Standard Content Solutions-Corel Integrates XML and SVG Tools with Newly Introduced Oracle Database 10g , that they have teamed up to provide XML and SVG based solutions based on Oracle 10g.

It will be interesting to see how the tools this partnership produces compare to the output from SQL Server Reporting Services in SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server Yukon. As far as I am aware there has been no public indication of whether or not Reporting Services supports SVG output.

However, it does look as if the Corel / Oracle combination is looking to produce a broader range of output, "to provide intelligent user interfaces for rich structured documents such as product documentation, financial reports, technical manuals and government legislation and regulation", than SQL Server Reporting Services.

The market for tools to extract and effectively present business data from enterprise class databases looks as if it is becoming increasingly competitive. The interactivity, animation and XML nature of SVG makes it a good fit with XML-based corporate workflows.
