For several years Microsoft has had a "Most Valued Professional", MVP, designation which is applied to individuals who demonstrate helpfulness and informedness (sorry for the neologism) on Microsoft newsgroups and in support for users of Microsoft software generally.
Microsoft has announced, Expanded MVP Program Puts Knowledge, Real-life Experience to Work for Microsoft Customers Worldwide , that it has expanded the international dimension of the MVP program.
That makes good sense in terms of building international bridges in the "Big Software War". I see it as strategically important for Microsoft to be seen to be moving from a USA Wide Web to a genuinely World Wide Web focus.
