The XML Query language, XQuery, is likely to be the XML data equivalent of SQL in the relational database world.
The following are initial comments on the XQuery books which are currently available. Since there are probably several months until Recommendation is achieved the detail of some of the XQuery language will inevitably be subject to change.
1. XQuery - The XML Query Language (Brundage). Looks as if it will probably be the pick of the current "preview" XQuery books for the developer. A few minor errors early on.
2. XQuery Kick Start - the other "preview" XQuery book targetted at developers. Lots of minor errors in the early chapters.
3. XQuery from the Experts - some good tutorial material in early chapters together with useful background and perspective. Some of the later material is not directly relevant to potential XQuery coders.
4. Early Adopter XQuery - now so dated as to be discounted.
