Robert Scoble recently carried a link to a Washington Post article on Microsoft's intended new image.
The article, Software's Gentler Giant? carries an interview with Steve Ballmer about how he sees the new Microsoft. Or, perhaps more precisely, how he would like us to see the new Microsoft.
The article doesn't pull its punches about the task which Ballmer is facing: "Legendary for arrogant, boorish and sometimes illegal dealings, the company is engaged in a multi-pronged effort to improve its relationships with customers, partners and government regulators.".
If the assumptions on which this blog is based are correct .... that there is an upcoming decade-long battle between Microsoft and its competitors in which the customer will, perhaps for the first time, genuinely be king ... Ballmer is asking the right questions.
